Another exciting level of growth is on the horizon for Fort Wayne. You can feel the buzz—an unmistakable energy in the air as the community looks ahead with anticipation.
At RFG, we’re leaning in, fully ready to embrace what’s next.
A Familiar Lot with a Bold New Purpose
If you’ve lived in Fort Wayne for a while, chances are you’ve driven past the large, open stretch of land near Science Central. Once a bustling rail and scrap yard, this 29-acre property has sat unused since 2006—a spot most people stopped noticing—until now.
Eyes are on it, eager to witness a transformation.
Introducing the North River Fieldhouse
Rising on this long-dormant site is the North River Fieldhouse—a 160,000-square-foot state-of-the-art sports complex designed to bring energy, opportunity, and community connection to downtown Fort Wayne. The estimated investment for this project ranges from $50 to $60 million.
This facility will accommodate a wide variety of sports, including basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball, flag football, pickleball, wrestling, and cheerleading. It will also be inclusive of adaptive sports, helping position Fort Wayne as a leading destination for youth and inclusive sports tourism.
A Massive Boost to the Local Economy
And it’s not just a facility, it’s a game-changer. Beyond the games, the Fieldhouse is expected to deliver notable economic benefits.
With at least 27 weekend tournaments hosted annually, hotels, restaurants, and shops will see increased activity. When major tournaments are not hosted, local schools, athletes, club teams and residents can have access to the facility for trainings, competitions and community events. The projected result? An estimated $733,000 in tax revenue each year and the creation of approximately 900 new jobs.
It’s a win for both the city’s economy and its workforce.
What It Means for Real Estate & Community Life
The presence of the North River Fieldhouse is expected to positively influence nearby neighborhoods and the broader community:
- Increased Property Values: Homes close to the complex may see a rise in value due to heightened interest and demand.
- Downtown Revitalization: The project could spark further development, including new businesses and residential growth.
- Community Engagement: By providing a modern, inclusive venue, the Fieldhouse will encourage active lifestyles and stronger community ties.
Your Move Into Fort Wayne’s Next Chapter
The North River Fieldhouse represents more than just a new facility—it’s a symbol of progress, connection, and investment in the future. If you’re looking to buy your first/next home or maybe you’re scouting investment properties, this development could shift both the map and the market. If you’re curious about the impact of the new sports complex to real estate goals, we’re here for you. Let’s talk.
At RFG, we’re excited to see how this development will shape Fort Wayne for generations to come—and proud to be part of a community that’s always moving forward.
