There is undeniable beauty in every corner of Fort Wayne, especially the outdoors.

It took one moment of pondering and appreciation of our rivers, and the idea of starting a business came like a splash to our owners, Tim and Cara Hall. Great for kids, and all ages, water is truly confidence-inspiring, yet they thought it interesting that no one has wanted or tried to capitalize on the rivers to start a business yet.

It was in 2007 that this idea became a reality. Fort Wayne Outfitters was launched by Tim and Cara as an avenue to share their great love and care for the outdoors and rivers to the community. They fell in love with a building that was once an 1880s train depot, and established the business there.

The opening of Promenade Park in 2019 gave us a boost since we are located in the center of it. Our vision got bigger as operations became busier. Our kayak rentals became more accessible, and are now fully compliant to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to cater handicapped people.

We are constantly evolving and are improving everything we offer. Later this year, we’re planning to have a small café to provide the perfect hang out spot. Featuring a quiet place with nice outdoor seating, people can grab deli sandwiches, and have a beer or wine after their outdoor trip!

It’s time to plan your next outdoor adventure with the Fort Wayne Outfitters! Visit us at the Old Historic Cass Street Depot on the beautiful River Greenway Path, and the Saint Mary’s River. Check out our websiteFacebook, and Instagram for details!
