10 Things to Do After 5 PM

Posted on March 06, 2017 at 8:00:00 am by Sarah D.

Fort Wayne has plenty of activities and entertainment to keep visitors busy during the day, but sometimes it can be hard to find things to do much past dinnertime. Instead of going back to the hotel after dinner, check out some of these family-friendly and adult activities and entertainment that are open past 5 pm.

Family-Friendly Activities

Laser X

Laser tag can be a great way to get the family involved in some fun.

Laser X’s play arena is over 9,000 square feet on four different levels, which allows for players to have a full experience of laser tagging whether they’re a beginner or an expert.

Before or after your laser tag adventure, enjoy some of the games in the arcade. The arcade can also be a good option for those not interested in laser tag.

Sky Zone

For an evening of fun along with a workout, visit Sky Zone, Fort Wayne’s only trampoline park.

General admission allows you and your family to enjoy the free jump at the main court, the Foam Zone, Ultimate Dodgeball, and SkySlam with jump sessions allotted in 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes.

All ages are welcome at Sky Zone; however, participants will be separated by age and size while on the trampolines.

Crazy Pinz

Crazy Pinz has so many activities that you could spend the whole evening there and not go bowling.

Besides bowling, Crazy Pinz has a glow-in-the-dark miniature golf course, bumper cars, arcade games, miniature bowling, laser tag, and Ball-O-City. Go for a few rounds of bowling or explore the other games and activities.

Between checking everything out, you can take a break at their restaurant.

The Yummi Bunni

If you’re looking for somewhere to get dessert after eating downtown, visit The Yummi Bunni. The shop opened in December 2016 and has been a hit in the community.

Yummi Bunni sells ice cream treats in a doughnut or a cup for smaller appetites. They offer vegetarian and gluten free flavors and have new flavors every week.

There’s often a long line, so make sure to plan on waiting before getting your treats.

DeBrand Fine Chocolates

For a treat before dinner or dessert, visit one of the four DeBrand Fine Chocolates locations in Fort Wayne.

They have a variety of chocolatey treats such as truffles, chocolate bars, boxed chocolates, hot chocolate kits, coffee and hot chocolate drinks, chocolate covered pretzels, and ice cream cups and sundaes.

If you like what you bought, consider buying some chocolates to bring home with you.

Plus, don’t forget the great family entertainment that is provided at a TinCapsbaseball game, and many other options like Fort Wayne’s great teen-friendly activities!

Adult Activities

Jefferson Pointe

Jefferson Pointe can be a great opportunity to do some shopping and get dinner. Vera Bradley, Von Maur, and Eddie Bauer are just a few of the clothing and specialty stores at the outdoor mall. There’s also plenty of food options with fine and casual dining restaurants like Panera Bread, Biaggi’s Italino, and Eddie Merlot’s and snack options like DeBrand Fine Chocolates, Poptique, and Cold Stone Creamery. Carmike Cinemas is also in the plaza if you’re interested in seeing a movie after dinner and shopping.

Room to Escape

If you and your group are looking for an intellectual challenge, Room to Escape is the place to go. At the escape room, you get to choose your challenge and have an hour to solve riddles and puzzles to escape the room. The themes include Dining Room Caper and Lab Disaster allow for 12 people, and Nightmare at the Museum allows for 8 people.

Mad Anthony Brewing Company

While exploring all that downtown Fort Wayne has to offer, consider eating dinner or getting a drink at Mad Anthony Brewing Company. They have weekly music events that will allow you to linger over your food or drinks.

For meals, they have a selection of pub food, gourmet pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and vegetarian options. Their drink selection includes a variety of ales, lagers, craft cocktails and beverages, and a changing beer menu.

Sweetwater

Sweetwater is the perfect place for music lovers to explore. They have a large music store full of instruments, equipment, and other music supplies. Some of their recently renovated areas include a drum room, a guitar room, a piano showcase room, and a digital warehouse. Sweetwater also hosts music events and concerts that are open to the public.

J.K. O'Donnell's

JK O’Donnell’s

For another downtown dinner and drinks option, visit the Irish-inspired JK O’Donnell’s. Their beer list along with other aspects of the restaurants are inspired by pubs in Dublin, Connaught, and Castlebar.

JK O’Donnell’s serves lunch and dinner with options such as sandwiches, soups, salads, Irish pub food, and pub sandwiches along with a variety of beers, red and white wines, and whiskeys, cocktails, liqueurs, and liquors.
